Job Requirement/ Duties of the Post : The pharmacist will be personally/ responsible for the correct dispensing as per prescriptions issued by the Medical Officer and for the safe custody of the stores received by him. She/He will issue medicines etc. In accordance with the instructions issued by the Directorate/ Medical Stores Depot/Medical Officer Incharge time to time. 1. The pharmacist will at all times be courteous and helpful in dealing with patients and under no circumstances enter into arguments, whatsoever, with a beneficiary but report the matter to the Chief Medical Officer. 2. She/He will be in position at the Wellness Centre well before opening time of Wellness Centre of medicines to beneficiaries. 3. She/He will be personally responsible to see that the despensing room is kept absolutely clean all the time, 4. She/He will dispense medicines proper. She/He issue and original packing to a beneficiary only after breaking the seal. 5. The Pharmacist will write the name of the medicines with details of the doses on the bottle, container, envelope and also explain the doses verbally where required. If medicines are issued in plastic (PVC) envelope small slips shall be put inside giving the name of medicines and its dosage. 6. The pharmacist(s) will remain on duty to clear the patient even at the end of the Wellness Centre hours. 7. The pharmacist will maintain proper account of the items issued to him, dispensed by him and the balance in stock with him. 8. The Pharmacist will immediately comply with the instructions and arrange for the stocks with him to be checked at any time by the Medical Officer Incharge or other Medical Officers and any other Officer deputed by the Zonal Head Quarters. 9. In the temporary absence of store keeper, the Pharmacist will perform the duties of the storekeeper whenever required by the Chief Medical Officer Incharge. 10. She/He will perform any other duty assigned by Medical Officer Incharge commensurate with the nature of work. 11. Dispensing prescription medicines to the beneficiaries. 12. Ensuring that different treatments are compatibles. 13. Checking dosage and ensuring that medicines are correctly and safely supplied and labelled (Pharmacist are legally responsible for any dispensing error). 14. Supervising the presparation of any medicines (not all are supplied ready made-up by manufacturer) 15. Keeping a register of controlled drugs for legal and stock control purpose. 16. Liasing with doctors about prescriptions. 17. Conseling and advising the public on the treatment of minor ailments. 18. Advising patients of any adverse side-effects of medicines or potential interaction with other Medicines/Treatment. 19. Arranging the delivery of prescription medicines to patients. 20. Overseeing the ordering and safe storage of medical products. 21. Managing supervising and training pharmacy support staff. 22. Keeping up-to-date with current pharmacy practice, new drugs and their uses. The duties of Pharmacists as per pharmacy practice regulation 2015 which was notified (The gazette of India extraordinary part III Sec 4 dated 17th January 2015 New Delhi) by Govt of India of 17th January 2015 no 14-148/2012-PCI are defined which can be assigned to community pharmacists.
